In 1997, the term "internet security" was not widely used. However, the engineers at Wheelgroup Corporation were working on a project that would revolutionize the industry: the first commercial intrusion detection device. In February 1998, Wheelgroup Corportation was acquired by Cisco Systems and eventually became an integral part of Cisco’s security architecture. Two of Wheelgroup's senior engineers, Michael and Scott Shinn, continued to work and prosper in the relatively small and specialized world of computer security. They have also worked for the White House, the SEC, and several other organizations. The events of 2001 fueled a "boom" in the internet security world, and the space rapidly filled with newcomers. Michael and Scott Shinn began to see that the majority of "security practitioners" fell into one of two categories: policy shops or technical shops. Unable to reconcile a separation between policy and technical controls, they decided to forge a new practice which unified all of the important elements in enterprise security into one company. In 2003, The Prometheus Global was born. In 2008, in order to reflect the expansion of the company's service offerings globally, and to offer a broader range of services and product offerings, The Prometheus Group, LLC. became Prometheus Global, Inc. Comprised of highly technical individuals who are also experts in security, Prometheus Global provides the complete security treatment, which addresses every aspect of security from IT governance to buffer overflows. Our technical staff has an average of over 10 years of Information Technology and Security experience in both the public and private sectors. Prometheus Global has assembled an enviable team of IT and Security experts, analysts, developers, engineers, authors, and architects with direct industry experience at Cisco, MCI, UUNet, Kellogg Brown Root, The Federal Reserve, NASD, The World Bank, Department of Defense and The Veterans Administration. We have helped to secure and build some of the country's most critical information systems. |
